Tommy Boy

"Hi, I'm Earth. Have we met?"

Tommy Boy, made in 1995, is one of my favorite movies. Although Chris Farley is a complete idiot in the movie, that is why I love it so much.

After taking seven years to graduate, Tommy Callahan Jr. (Farley) takes a job in his fathers auto parts factory. Tommy is then introduced to a new product that is going to be sold in their factory which is brake pads. Not only is he introduced to a new part, he is also introduced to his new step mom and her son. When his father dies after Tommy is home from college, the factory is in trouble of being shut down unless they sell a crazy amount of brake pads.

The movie follows the silly life of Tommy who is constantly pulling pranks and his whole life is a charade. Now he is the one who has to save the factory and in a short time. Tommy goes to weird extremes to save his dad's name and reputation.

This movie is definitely not a crowd pleaser for everyone. With that said, Chris Farley makes this movie. I love these kinds of movies and that is why it's making it on my list of Great Comedy Movies.

Christmas Vacation

"And when Santa squeezes his fat white ass down that chimney tonight, he's gonna find the jolliest bunch of assholes this side of the nuthouse."

Christmas Vacation, which came out in 1989, is a great comedy movie. My family and I watch it at least 5 times during the month of Christmas, because it never is Christmas unless we watch it. I rarely watch movies out of season, but I enjoy this movie so much that I can actually watch it in other months besides December.

The movie follows the Griswold family and all of their traditions for the Christmas holiday. They start off with the Griswold family cutting down their own tree themselves in the woods. Clark Griswold, Chevy Chase, has just put down a deposit for a swimming pool at his house because he knows his Christmas bonus will pay for it. What he doesn't know is that he's going to get a completely different bonus this year. The family has their relatives over to celebrate for Christmas and along the way, very weird and hilarious things happen which continuously surprise you. The clip below is a little taste of how wacked out the movie is and this is their family Christmas Eve dinner.

I'd like to guess that anyone who is reading this post has seen this movie. If you havn't even heard of this movie before, I may have lost a little bit of respect for you. They came out with a sequel but I have never seen it and don't plan too.

The Jerk

" And that's it and that's the only thing I need, is this."

This is a great movie. This movie is 31 years old and that is what makes it even better. Steve Martin is a hit in it. My mom is the one who forced me to watch it the first time and I actually didn't enjoy it because I usually don't like old movies. After the 3rd time I saw it I really liked it so I think it should make it on my great comedy movies blog. It is such a classic.

The Jerk is about a man named Navin Johnson who grows up in Mississippi. He is adopted by a black family who cares for him like he was their own son. When he is 18 he decides he wants to see what the world is really like so he sets out to St. Louis. Along the way, many funny things happen. I'm not going to tell you anything about what happens along the way because thats why the movie is awesome. Check out the clip below as a taste of how the movie is:

This was Steve Martin's first role in a feature film. This really put Steve Martin on the radar for acting. In 2000, it was voted the "48th greatest comedy movie of all time". This is 6th for my blog posts, but don't be mistaken. This is definitely worth your time to watch if you havn't seen it yet.

Best in Show

"Rhapsody has two mommies."

Best in Show is a comedy movie that has been flying under the radar for ten years now. I know many of movie buffs who havn't even heard or seen of this movie before. This is definitely a weird & awkward but funny movie.

Best in Show delves into the lives of five show dogs owners. It follows their lifestyles up until the Mayflower Kennel Club Dog Show in Philadelphia. The camera crew interviews and follows their lifestyles and how they prepare for the upcoming dog show. The movie deals with all the owners and the weird/quirky lengths the owners will go for their dogs. The movie involves things like a crazy couple obessed with their show dog and willing to do anything for him to the journey other dog show owners go through.

The movie has a weird type of humor so I wouldn't exactly suggest this one for everyone. The reviews for the movie are pretty mixed as well. I would say though, that if you have a sense of humor at all, go for it because it has potential to be one of your favorite movies after seeing it.

Dazed and Confused

"You just gotta keep livin' man, L-I-V-I-N."

Dazed and Confused is a great movie in general. It actually has a lot of actors that have become extremely popular since it came out in 1993.

The movie is about the last day of school in Texas in 1976. It has the whole shabangs from upperclassmen harrasing and beating the underclassmen to a kegger in the woods. The movie follows the last day of school until the next morning, where summer has officially begun. Not only do the senior boys haze the incoming freshman, the senior girls even haze the incoming freshmen as well.

The movie does a good job of going into what highschool was like in the 70's. Even though the movie takes place over about a 24 hour span, it never gets boring or slow. I quote this movie once in a while because it is still histerical to me. There is talk going around about a "sequel" similar to this movie but who knows if it's true. Great Comedy Movie #4- Dazed and Confused.

My Cousin Vinny

"What is a 'yoot'?" "Oh, excuse me, your honor...Two YOUTHS."

After looking at websites for this blog, I found a page that uncovers all of the mistakes in the movie and I love to see movie bloopers. This movie was made in 1992, and even though it has a lot of movie bloopers and I was only three years old when it came out, it didn't stop me from seeing it as I grew older. This movie is still widely talked about today even though it is 18 years old.

My Cousin Vinny is about two innocent boys heading to college when they end up being arrested for murder and robbery at an Alabama local convenience store. When they need a lawyer for the case and realize they don't have enough money to pay for one, they decide to ask for help from one of the accused's cousins whose an extremely inexperienced lawyer who has never even been part of a trial before. The cousin lawyer is Vincent Gambini (Joe Pesci) a New Yorker who seems to stir up a lot of trouble in the Alabama town. He brings his fiancee, Mona Lisa Vito (Marisa Tomei) with him who is a great comic relief as well in the movie. The movie follows all the way down to the trial. I'm not going to tell you what happens in the end though because if you havn't already seen it, I'm not going to be the one to ruin it for you.

Super Troopers

"Want me to punch-a-size your face, for free?"

So to stay along with the theme of this blog, I am going to list another crude humor movie you should all see at one point or another- Super Troopers.
The audience for this movie is more of a younger one such as college kids or young adults. This explains why me and my friends enjoy the movie so much.

The movie is about Vermont state troopers Thorny, Mac, Rabbit, Foster and Farva. They don't take their job seriously and when they pull people over they usually play pranks on them such as how many times they can say meow to the offender. The budget cuts in Spurbery, the town they are located in, start to have an affect on the department by threatening their existence. The story follows the department and how they plan on staying alive involving drug busts, a dead body and ridiculous times along the way.

I'm pretty sure that I have quoted this movie at least 50 times since I have seen it and I can say the same for my friends. I love it so much because no matter how many times I see it, it never gets old. There is talk about there being a sequel to Super Troopers, which I hope is true.

So folks, Super Troopers is officially on the list of Best Comedy Movies

Pineapple Express

"Yeah, maybe. Maybe he went to heaven. He was a little fucker. He could've gone to hell."

Pineapple Express...as of now, it is definitely one of my favorite funny movies.

Not only are the characters in this movie hilarious, the lines/quotes are pretty damn good as well. I sometimes find myself in the mood to watch a movie that has dumb humor and this one will definitely fulfill that want.

*Check out the Pineapple Express trailer below*

For the people who live under a rock and have not seen this movie yet or even heard of it, I suggest you watch it soon. The movie was actually pretty good in the box office. The movie follows two stoners and the adventures they have together after they find out they are being followed by a drug dealer and the police. The two main characters, who are the stoners, are Seth Rogen and James Franco.

After seeing this movie about ten times, that's when I really started to appreciate it. Some people would consider this a disgrace to comedy movies, and I guess in a way it is. But I am a big movie buff and to me this movie definitely goes on my list of funny ones.
So .. to everyone who is reading this and has not seen it yet, add Pineapple Express to your list of movies to watch because if you have a sense of humor, you probably will end up liking it as well.
